There are a number of small, regular striations along one edge, possibly wear damage, but there is no visible wear polish and no retouch. Mid brown flint with cherty inclusions. A Prehistoric (probably Neolithic) multi-platform flint core. It is pale grey flint with a thick opaque patina and a small area of patina that appears to be older. Alison Roberts (The Ashmolean) suggests this is a fragment of a Mesolithic tool an ?axehead that was then modified into a core. Dimensions: length: 34.67mm; width: 43.67mm; thickness: 43.67mm; weight: 51.86g.
