Tertiary waste of light grey coloured chert probably dating to the Neolithic period (3500 – 2100 BC). The flake is broadly sub-triangular with a bowed curved edge. Clear flake facets can be seen on the dorsal face. The ventral face has a clear bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures. The flake is plough rolled; it is possible that the curved edge has been reworked to form a crude side. The matrix of the chert is coarse. The flake measures: 20.4mm length, 15.2mm width is 3.4mm thick and weighs 1.06 grams

Incomplete fragment from the tip of a knife or more probably sickle knapped from a light grey coloured flint probably dating to the later Neolithic or Early Bronze Age periods (2500-1800 BC). The flake is broadly sub-triangular with a bowed curved edge; it is lentoid in cross section. Both the ventral and dorsal faces of the flake have been reworked. This secondary reworking is best seen on the curved edge where detailed neat small flakes have been removed by indirect retouch and pressure flaking. On the dorsal face this working extends up to the mid point of the blade, with a series o…

Two secondary waste flakes / debitage of flint dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods (2900 – 1800 BC). Both the flakes are irregular in plan being more like chunks or chips than true flakes .Both have varying sized flake facets present on the outer (dorsal) faces, although some of these are uncontrolled probably from plough roll. There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. Both flakes have less than 50% cortex (outer rind), which is a mid grey white colour – possibly originally from a chalk or limestone based procurement source. Both the pieces …

Tertiary waste of mid grey coloured flint probably dating to the Neolithic period (3500 – 2500 BC). The flake is irregular being broadly rectangular with clear flake facets on the dorsal face. The ventral face has a clear bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures. The flake is heavily plough rolled and there are also a number of hinge fractures. One small area on the edge of he dorsal face has been reworked with small neat pressure flakes being removed to create a cutting / scrapping edge. It is possible it may have been reworked into a side scraper. The matrix of the flint is coar…

Snapped flint blade, probably dating to the later Mesolithic or early Neolithic periods (6500-2900 BC). The blade is sub-rectangular in plan with a series of four blade facets on the upper dorsal face. The ventral face shows evidence off conchoidal ripples but there is no evidence of the bulb of percussion. The upper and lower edges have both been snapped. There is little evidence of retouch; it is possible that there is direct percussion flaking along one edge, although this can be produced by plough roll. The blade measures: 15.7mm length, 15.5mm width is 2.8mm thick and weighs …

Both the flakes are relatively small being irregular in plan and profile with a series of varying sized flake facets present on the outer faces. Tertiary waste of mid grey coloured flint probably dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age period (3500 – 1800 BC). The flake is irregular with a bowed curved edge. The flake has been heavily reworked although the type of artefact is difficult to ascertain. The artefact type is probably best described as a scraper, although it is a particularly poor example. One edge has been heavily reworked with multiple parallel sided facets. The curved edge also has reworking although this abrupt flaking with a hard a hammer in most places. The ventral face is also flaked but less intensively…

Large irregular much weather nodule of flint, probably used as a raw (although poor quality) flint source for making artefacts in the prehistoric period. The outer edge is covered with cortex (at least 60%) which seems to be derived from chalk. The flake scars present are uncontrolled and this would suggest that this piece comes from one end of a nodule which has been discarded due to its poor state. The noule measures 83.9mm length, 63.3mm width is 4.1mm thick and weighs 184.64 grams.

Knapped and flaked tertiary flint flake / debitage or possible scraper of later Neolithic date. The flake is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section. An irregular primary waste flake / debitage of probable Neolithic date (3500 - 2100 BC). This piece of flint has been deliberately removed from the outer face of a flint nodule to prepare it for further work and tool production. Conchoidal ripples are present on the dorsal (reverse) side. There are several flint removal scars that are mostly likely the result of plough roll. It measures 45.17mm length, 41.13mm width, 11.65mm thick and weighs 19.4 grams.
