The flint measures 20.28mm in length, 16.97mm in width, is 3.51mm thick and weighs 1.56g. The smaller flake, on the left in the photograph, is a 'piercer'. There is evidence of retouching along the edges. It has been formed from a flake that was primarily a bladelet blank. The flint measures 15.71mm in length, is 13.66mm wide, has a thickness of 2.8mm and weighs 0.71g.

A small leaf-shaped flint arrowhead, with small amounts of iron stain forming on the dorsal side. There is some patina on the right side of the dorsal side. On the ventral side there is a completely flat face; there are three clear faces on the dorsal. The point is broken off and there is a small chip in the left cutting edge, when looking at the dorsal face. The very deliberate leaf shape leads to the conclusion that this is an arrowhead rather than a microlith, and the date of Later Neolithic is suggested by a similar example, albeit more damaged, in Bond (2004, 142; ref. F140).

A Neolithic stone blade core (3500-2100BC). The core is a green stone chert. The shape, technology and stone all indicate the core is from the Grand Pressigny area, Northern France. It was probably collected by an antiquarian and lost or disposed of. The core has two opposed platforms with at least nine blade removal scars. Dimensions: length 127.92mm; width 58.77mm; thickness 50.02mm; weight >300g

Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment of late Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint barbed and tanged arrowhead. The arrowhead has been pressure flaked and invasively retouched on both sides to create a thin bi-convex lenticular cross-section. The original shape of the barb ends looks to have been square. The triangular tip and a large part of the tang are missing leaving around 70% of the arrowhead intact; a fact which precludes full classification of the piece. Similar arrowheads are shown in Butler.C; Prehistoric Flintwork (2005) p162-165 and are dated to circa 2500-1500 BC.

A Neolithic flint tool, possibly an end scraper (see comment in notes below). The tool may be fashioned on a thermal flake. It is sub plano-convex in section and piriform in plan. Similar scrapers are shown in Butler C. Prehistoric flintwork (2005) p126-128 and are dated to the Neolithic period circa 3500-2100 BC.

Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A Prehistoric flint flake (probably Mesolithic – Neolithic 8,300-2,100BC). The flake is tertiary with no cortex remaining. The end is broken and there is some damage to the central face that obscures the flake removal scars. There is possibly some find retouch, worked unifacially, along the left edge but this may have been caused by crushing. Pale-mid grey mottled flint with an opaque patina. Dimensions: length: 21.11mm; width: 15.65mm; thickness: 4.47mm; weight: 1.25g.

The flint is mottled mid/light brown/grey with a slight milky patina. Dimensions: length: 29.25mm; width: 19.18mm; thickness: 4.04mm; weight: 1.71g.
