Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Two late Neolithic / Bronze Age flints. 1: Scraper, crude in manufacture with some limited but concentrated retouch on the dorsal surface at the distal end. Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint flake fragment with extensive edge damage. Although this flake looks a bit like the beginnings of a tanged and barbed arrowhead, its condition and construction suggest that it has actually been produced and used as a gun flint, therefore dating to the Post-medieval period.

Record ID: BERK-52CE80
Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A collection of 22 flint flakes, from core trimming and / or tool preparation and production. None of these flakes show any sign of reworking (retouching). The flake technology employed suggests a date between the Late Neolithic (c.2500-2100 BC) through into the Bronze Age (c. 2100-800 BC), when generally flint working skills rapidly declined. This assemblage weighs a total of 82.4gms.

Object type: MICROLITH
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A collection of flint tools and production debris dating to the Mesolithic period (8300-4000BC). The collection consists of 24 bladelets or microliths as well as one core and one core fragment. All of the pieces show long thin blade removals, a technology very characteristic of the Mesolithic period. The microlithis weigh a collective total of 28.1gms. The large core weighs 14.8gms and measures 20.92mm long and is 20.05mm at its widest. The core tapers from the platfrom at the top, almost down to a point at the distal end. The core fragment piece displays a number of microlith removal…

Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Four fragments of flint debitage. The group consists of three smaller pieces of mid-grey flint and one large flake. The flake is secondary with a large area of cortex remaining on the dorsal face and a pronounced buld of percussion on the ventral face. The flake is possibly burnt, but could just be heavily patinated. It bears no sign of secondary retouch and is a core trimming flake. The three smaller pieces are waste/debitage flakes, one severely broken with some possible edge use, the other two smaller flakes are whole flakes, one patinated, one fresh. These pieces are either co…
