Object type: BLADE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Oxfordshire

A broken blade fragment made on a teriary flake. The platform and bulb is retained. The flint has a blue-grey core covered with a thick white patina from the chalk. The object has partial retouch on the dorsal edges and is broken at the distal end. It is crude in its manufacture and finishing, suggesting a Bronze Age date, like the rest of the assemblage from this area. The lithic measures 41.49mm long, 16.98mm wide and is 4.92mm thick. It weighs 5.7gms.

A flint blade dating from the early Neolithic period (c.4000-3000 BC). The blade is made on a secondary flake of a dark grey, semi-translucent flint. The distal end retains approximately 20% brown-white cortex. The blade is retouched around all dorsal edges apart from at the distal end; thinning of the bulb is evident at the proximal end on the ventral side. The blade widens from 7.41mm at the proximal end to 23.34mm at the distal end and has a roughly trapezoidal cross section.
