Two Mesolithic (c.8300-3500 BC) flint implements. The larger flake, on the right in the photograph, is the retouched tip of a blade implement that has been broken at some point in the past. The flint measures 20.28mm in length, 16.97mm in width, is 3.51mm thick and weighs 1.56g. The smaller flake, on the left in the photograph, is a 'piercer'. There is evidence of retouching along the edges. It has been formed from a flake that was primarily a bladelet blank. The flint measures 15.71mm in length, is 13.66mm wide, has a thickness of 2.8mm and weighs 0.71g.

A collection of forty-eight (48) core rejuvination flakes of various sizes, dating to the Neolithic period. The majority show surface removals, but none have been retouched for use as either formal or non-formal tools. The majority of the flakes are covered with a white patina covering a blue-grey core, suggesting that the raw material originated from chalk downlands. The closest source is a few miles to the southeast (towards the Ridgeway). Weights vary from 0.7gms to 7.6gms.

A flint blade fragment probably dating to the Neolithic period (c. 4000-2500 BC). The blade retains the platform and bulb of percussion, although some attempt to remove the bulb has been made. There is further restricted pressure flaking on one lateral of the ventral side, otherwise there is no secondary working. The distal end of the blade is broken and missing, but this appears to have happened in antiquity as the patina at the break is the same as that covering the rest of the flint.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Two retouched tertiary flakes. Both of the flakes retain the bulb of percussion and one retains the striking platform. Both flakes have bladelet sized removals restricted to their dorsal surfaces. The retouch is minimal and sparodic of both flakes suggesting that they were either production debris, or possibly simple ad hoc tools discarded soon after manufacture. The flakes probably date from the late Neolithic to Bronze Age (c. 3000-1200 BC).

A flint waste flake, primary removal. There is no definitive retouching evident on the ventral surface, although damage has occured and is suggestive of rolling or possibly hammering. The rings of percussion are evident on the ventral surface and a slight hinge fracture mirror is evident. No platform is visible. This is very hard to date without any technological distinctions evident so it could be prehistoric, but could quite easily also be quite modern and may not, necessarily, be man made, although it could have been struck by machinery.

A flint scraper, semit-circular in plan and crude in manufacture. The scraper has been made on a tertiary flake and crude retouching is present on the curved edge of the dorsal surface. Neither the bulb or percussion lines are evident. The scraper is very crude and that suggests a Bronze Age or later date.

A very angular, rectangular piece of flint, possibly from a spent core. The piece has a couple of thin flake removals evident but otherwise there is no retouching or other work evident, although one of the angular corners appears to have been used for rubbing as it is smooth and rounded, something that must have happened through human interaction. This piece of flint's origin is uncertain so it can only be refered to as a 'rubbed end piece'. General prehistoric date, probably Neolithic to Bronze Age.
