A flint Acheulian handaxe. The axe is roughly triangular in plan and a pointed oval in cross-section. The flint is a mottled mid-brown-cream colour. The axe was shown at a meeting of the Lithics society (2009) where it was apparently verified as being Acheulian.

An incomplete Neolithic polished greenstone axe, probably a Langdale (Cumbrian) product. The rounded butt end of the axe has survived undamaged but the blade edge has been completely lost to post-depositional damage. The axe is of the thick-butted variety and is pointed-oval (elliptical) in cross-section. The axe is a mid-green/grey colour with occasional reddish-brown coloured patches. Dimensions: Length 100.59mm; Width 51.99mm; Thickness 35.45mm; Weight 217.40g. Dated: c.4000 BC - c.2000 BC.
