A bifacially flaked flint handaxe of sub-cordate form dating to the Lower Palaeolithic c.500,000-250,000 BC.
Description: The handaxe has a rounded butt, wider middle and a rounded pointed cutting end. It has been bifacially worked, with flaking covering both sides, this has been uneven however leaving one side with a deep uneven hinge fracture. In cross-section the handaxe is a pointed oval. It has a thin rounded triangular shape in plan, with a slightly convex butt end, rounded point and two slightly convex lateral edges.(mesal). It has been bifacial flaked with covering, scaled, low angled retouch. The butt end has broken and been heavily reworked as a useable tool in antiquity as noted by the …

A small incomplete oval handaxe of the Acheulian flint industry dating c. 500,000-180,000 BC
Description: The handaxe is bifacial worked with covering flaking. The butt end is very subtly wider than the 'blade' end. The butt end has some haphazard attempts to blunt it. There is large section of damage on the bottom left of one side that distorts the full shape and due to the even patination happened far back in antiquity. The profile is uneven and somewhat twisted akin to those recorded from Rickson's Pit and Person's Pit in Dartford, Northern Kent (illustrated by Roe 1981, 77. nos…
