Weathered opposed platform flint core of early neolithic date. The upper striking platform is irregular in shape and measures 32.7mm long by 29.1mm wide, whilst the lower platform is also irregular and measures 19.6mm long by 16.5mm wide. The core is 27.1mm high and has four vertical flake removal scars, covering an area 26.4mm wide. The rest of the perimeter of the core has not been worked and it seems likely that this was a waste core, deemed unsuitable for blade production. Weight = 35.04g.

A Neolithic flint lithic implement: end scraper (3500-2100BC). The scraper has been made on an irregular secondary flake with approximately 5% cortex present. Abrupt retouch has modified one side of a hinge fracture to create the end scraper. This is mid brown flint. Dimensions: length: 20.18mm; width: 21.43mm; thickness: 6.38mm; weight: 2.24g.

A Neolithic flint fragment of a polished axe-head (3500-2100B). Of this axe-head only the distal end remains and there is some damage and a large flake is missing from one surface. The axe-head has a pointed oval cross-section and the surface is completely polished with no trace of the flake removal process. There is also no evidence of use-wear, suggesting this axe-head was not used before its deposition.

An early Mesolithic flaked flint biface adze "Thames pick" (10,000-7,000BC). The adze has been 'roughed out' from a flint nodule or pebble. It is roughly oval in cross section. Viewed edge-on along its longitudinal axis the adze tapers slightly from the broadly rounded butt towards the more pointed cutting edge. Viewed from above, the butt and cutting edge are both rounded and the sides are approximately straight and parallel. There are signs of crushing along sections of both edges. There are numerous conchoidal fractures and large flake removal scars extending from the edges on both…

A Palaeolithic flint biface dating 400,000 - 10,000BC. This biface is triangular in plan with a rounded butt and rounded tip. There is some irregularity in the flint at the butt which seems to be eroded fossils. Flake removal scars cover both the dorsal and ventral surfaces. Approximately midway along the left hand edge there is curved indent with further retouch which has been worked from the dorsal surface. There is also some more modern edge damage. The flint has a brown/dark grey patina. Dimensions: length: 96.48 mm; width: 70.50mm; thickness: 28.98mm; weight: 178.84g. I…

A Mesolithic flint adze dating 9,000 - 4,000BC. There is extensive flake removal on both the dorsal and ventral surfaces. This adze has been worked so that it tapers from the broad, rounded distal end (width: 41.72mm) to the rounded butt (width: 22.27mm). The flake removals on the dorsal surface has created a ridge down the length of the adze along the midline. There is some later damage on the butt and both dorsal and ventral surfaces. The flint is dark grey, and mottled. Dimensions: length: 99.57mm; width: 41.72mm; thickness: 30.80mm; weight: 134.84g. Identification and illu…

A Prehistoric, possibly Bronze age flint tool. The removals have created a lozenge-shaped tool with a longer point on the working end. The working end has a triangular cross-section and a blunt tip. There is an area of cortex surviving on the one side near the butt. Jon Cotton describes this as a nosed piece with abrupt retouch. honey coloured flint. Dimensions: length: 59.20mm; width: 41.27mm; thickness: 23.15mm; weight: 40.9g. Identification by Jon Cotton, Specialist in Prehistoric London.

Probable Neolithic-Bronze age scraper, probably a secondary flake, with a small amount of cortex remaining. The tool has retouch along one edge, this is short, for two thirds of the length, with some long retouch at one end. The retouch is scaled and at an abrupt angle. Flint is dark grey to black in colour with some white cortex remaining. The flake has a large bulb of percussion suggesting the use of a hard hammer and a later date for this object.

Mesolithic-Neolithic flint core for making bladelets. Core with a single striking platform, there are longitudinal blade removal scars running the length of the object that tapers to a point giving it a conical shape. Flint is a dark brown in colour with a white cortex on the striking platform. There are some signs of retouch around the platform edge as platform preparation. The flake removal scars are not found all round the core, with the rear side left unused, possibly suggesting the core was disposed of after only a short time.
