Two post medieval gunflints from a flint lock rifle (1 of which is incomplete), dating 1600-1850. The complete flint has been worked to form a trapezoidal shape in plan with 3 faces where blades have been removed on the top. One side is rounded tapering to a narrower side. mid-grey flint.
The incomplete flint has two straight sides, following the trapezoidal pattern, but the other two sides have been rounded to form a single edge. It is apparent that an attempt has been made to work this flint but one corner has broken off and the item has been abandoned. dark-grey flint.

A post-medieval knapped gun flint from a flintlock musket or pistol dating AD 1650-1850. It is D-shaped in plan and wedge-shaped in cross-section, although the distal end does curve upwards such that the ventral side is not flat. It is thicker at the proximal rounded end and thinner at the distal end. The bulb of percussion eminates from the proximal end. There is working on all edges and the edges are not straight. The flint is a dark grey / black colour and there is cortex still present on the left hand corner at the proximal end.

A gunflint struck from a tertiary flake of grey flint with inclusions which has been retouched with short abrupt scale retouch all around to create a squareish flake. Working on the proximal end has removed any evidence for a striking platform and has created a curved back resembling a scraper. The side profile is triangular and the bulb of percussion is large and centrally placed suggesting working with an iron hammer. The size and shape suggest that the gunflint is of French origin.
