A large Neolithic thumb scraper, designed to be held between your thumb and forefinger. The scraper has a shallow plano-convex section, with one rounded side and one convex. The flint is roughly oval in overall shape. It has been formed from a light brownish-grey flint. Some cortex survives. The bulb of percussion and striking platform are both present, but are damaged, with bulb scars. Scrapers like this would have had many different functions in the Neolithic, as they were very useful tools, used for example for skinning animals, removing the fatty deposited from hinds and much more.
