An unfinished roughout for a flint axehead, dating to the Neolithic period. The wedge shaped roughout has been bifacially flaked around its edges and some flaking has been undertaken further into the body of the flint. The butt is still very thick and the roughout seems to have been abandoned before this part of the axe was refined. Much cortex remains on both faces and on the butt and sides of the roughout.
