Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Derbyshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint tanged arrowhead (length: 30.5mm; width: 17mm; thickness: 3.5mm; weight: 1.65g). A small crudely worked arrowhead with more extensive working down one edge. The head is rather uneven and tang is very small and fragile (length: 8mm; width: 6mm) and tapers down into a point. There is remains of the original core surface on one side. This arrowhead is clearly paralleld with those of the Sutton 'a' type which mainly occur in the Upper Thames region, Cotswolds and the Midlands (Stephen Greeen, 1980, page 119).

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Derbyshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete knapped / worked flint scraper, of Late Neolithic dating (2900 BC to 2000 BC). The scraper is broadly semi circular and rectangular in cross section being formed from a tertiary flake; possibly debitage. The upper / dorsal face of the scraper exhibits a series of irregular flake scars suggesting that this piece has been removed from a larger flake and been subsequently reused. Part of the bulb of percussion is present on the ventral surface. The striking platform is missing. The edges of the dorsal face have all be retouched with indirect percussion, all the flakes relat…

Object type: KNIFE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Derbyshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date, circa 2700 BC - 2350 BC. The object is formed from possible course chert or flint. The implement is a possible knife or borer and is sub-triangular in form and formed on a tertiary flake of debitage. Short, scaled, semi-abrupt retouch is present along all three sides on the dorsal face. The ventral face has one large flake removal scar and a smaller broadly rectangular shaped removal. A broadly triangular shaped removal is possibly a modern scar. There is some invasive, scaled retouch at the distal end on the ventral face. Peter Rea…

A complete blade of Early Mesolithic dating (-10,000 to -7,000 BC). It has been struck from a prepared core of grey chert/coarse flint. Striking platform and butt removed by snapping.
