Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A patinated flint borer or awl of probable Mesolithic date. It is triangular in form, struck from a dark grey flint with a heavy mottled white/grey patination, and with small striking platform and low bulb of percussion. Both edges taper to a rounded point and have short, semi-abrupt and scaled retouch. At one side of the proximal end is a small retouched notch that exposes the natural unpatinated flint below and has abrupt and scaled retouch. The entire object measures 58.18mm in length, 30.38mm in width, 8.86mm in thickness, and 12.47g in weight. This is probably a borer, awl or sim…

A complete flint probable Meslithic to Neolithic notched flake. Formed on a long, thin, heavily patinated tertiary flake. Two long thin flaking scars with a central ridge run down the dorsal face. There is an abrupt new break, which has exposed unpatinated flint at the distal end. There is a small amount of possible retouch creatcing a notch on the right edge towards the proximal end, which has again exposed unpatinated flint. Object type: BLADE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete Mesolithic to Neolithic flint blade. It is long and narrow with three longitudinal flaking scars on the dorsal face. All surfaces are fully patinated and this extends across a break at the distal end suggesting that this occurred before deposition. There is a small semi-circular notch to the right side of the distal end, which potentially appears to be deliberate, but has removed patination suggesting that it occurred much later than the original production. There are no other signs of retouch. Length: 72.55mm, width: 22.77mm, thickness: 5.15mm, weight: 10.59g

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cambridgeshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint waste flake of probable Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. The flint is a secondary flake, retaining part of the original cortex at the proximal end, where there is a bulb-of-percussion. The flake is roughly semicircular in plan and has a conchoidal fracture. At one point along the edge, there are four parallel flake removal scars, which are probably indicative of retouch. The translucent flint is repatinated in places, particularly on the ventral face. Dimensions: length: 32.6mm; width: 28.1mm; thickness: 7.5mm. Weight: 7.18g.
