Record ID: LANCUM-4FF870
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Bradford
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Worked flint probably a Bronze Age 2150 - 800BC thumbnail scaper worked from close to the core which is unusual. The flint is caramel in colour which is agin unusual for worked flint but maybe explained by a lack of source material in the area hence the necessity of utilising every part of an imported material. The scraper reveals 3 blade scars from the shaping of the tool. There is also minor damage possibly from being knicked by early ploughing in the Iron Age or Medieval period. The length is 25mm and the thickness is 22mm.
