A retouched flint flake tool of probable Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. The tool is sub-rectangular in plan. An area of core platform at the top suggest that the flake was struck from a well prepared core, while the slope of this platform suggests an oblique striking angle. The ventral surface exhibits an clear bulb scar, bulb-of-percussion and ripples; the dorsal surface has a vertical arrise at the centre. Both long sides have been retouched to create a notch. The horizontal distal end retains some original cortex. The flint is orangey-brown and is patinated in places. The to…

A flint scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. No trace of a bulb-of-percussion or ripples can be found on this implement, suggesting that it may have been made from a frost shattered flake. The tool is truncated-oval in plan, one side having been pressure flaked to create a near vertical scraping edge. This edge continues into a flaked edge of approximately 45 degrees, which cuts through the natural surface cortex, which remains across much of the rounded upper surface. Approximately two thirds of the edge of the tool show signs of having been retouched to some ext…

A flint blade of probable Late Mesolithic to early Neolithic date. The blade is roughly parallel-sided and of triangular section. At the proximal end of the ventral surface is a small bulb scar below a portion of the flat core platform. A short length of one of the long sides has been retouched to create a jagged cutting edge. The concave distal end would also appear to have been deliberately created. The flint is lightly patinated and is mottled, with dark grey and white patches. The tool measures 35.4mm long, 14.1mm wide and 4.3mm thick. The weight is 2.3g.

A flint blade of probable Neolithic date. The long sides of the blade are irregular, in one place because of the deliberate creation, through invasive retouch, of a concave scraping area. The bulb-scar is visible at the proximal end of the ventral surface, below which diffuse ripples are visible on the distinctly curved surface. The dorsal surface has a roughly vertical ridge at the centre and others branch off this. The flint is a very lightly patinated dark grey shade. The tool measures 37.3mm long, 18.7mm wide, 6.7mm thick and weighs 3.8g.

A flint microlith of Mesolithic date. The piece is incomplete, the angled bottom edge broken to reveal an unpatinated, and therefore relatively modern, break. The top point has also been lost relatively recently. The remaining tool has sides which converge towards the top and has a central arrise, creating a triangular section. Both vertical sides have been re-touched to create saw-like edges. The flint surface is a heavily patinated blueish-white colour. The tool measures 19.7mm long, 8.7mm wide and 2.5mm thick. The weight is 0.42g.

A Neolithic to early Bronze Age flint scraper. The tool has been made from a broad flake which has been worked to create a semi-oval form. The dorsal surface retains half of the original cortex, the other half having been removed and the curved edge serrated. Unusually, most of the working is confined to the flat distal end, where invasive re-touch has created an almost vertical face. At the centre of this edge is a notch. Fine re-touch is also visible on the other curved long side. On the reverse are two adjacent bulbs-of-percussion and emanating ripples. The flint is a lightly pat…
