A complete (though broken into three parts 12 weeks after discovery, now glued back together again) large hollow-based flint arrowhead. All-over re-touch, off white/cream coloured flint, which appears to be the natural colour rather than patination. The form is relatively straight sided with slight splaying at barbs. The concavity of the hollow base is relatively slight. Lenght 85mm, width 37mm and thickness 9mm. Hollow based arrow heads, although present in the early Bronze Age (circa 2500-1500 BC) contexts are rare in East Anglia. Ay other example as large as this has not …

There is a small notch along one edge which probably reflects recent damage. The arrowhead weighs less than 8g and has a small length to width ratio, so this example is a Sutton type. Although flint barbed and tanged arrowheads are a diagnostic early Bronze Age type the unusual nature of the edge working (possibly make by pliers?) and the form (particularly triangular) may suggest a more modern creation and working, perhaps by the Brnadon gun-flint knappers of the 19th and ear…

A piece of worked flint, possibly an unfinished barbed and tanged arrowhead, dating to the Bronze Age (2150 – 800 BC). The barbs and tang are not complete, but the pronounced triangular form is typical. However, the object is rather crude, and worked on one face only (the reverse bears a pronounced bulb of percussion), and barbed and tanged arrowheads are bifacially-knapped. Thus, this identification is not secure. Length: 35mm; width: 28mm; thickness: 8mm; weight unknown, recorded in field.

The flake is 21.2mm long, 15.8mm wide and 2.7mm thick. It is bi-facially worked with scalar flaking but there is very little, if any, edge retouch. It may be a pre-form for a tool which was never completed. There is very little dating evidence at this flake could date from anytime between the late Mesolithic and the Bronze Age. However, it is slightly more likely to be from the Early Bronze Age. There is slight patination on all fac…
