A complete (though broken into three parts 12 weeks after discovery, now glued back together again) large hollow-based flint arrowhead. All-over re-touch, off white/cream coloured flint, which appears to be the natural colour rather than patination. The form is relatively straight sided with slight splaying at barbs. The concavity of the hollow base is relatively slight. Lenght 85mm, width 37mm and thickness 9mm. Hollow based arrow heads, although present in the early Bronze Age (circa 2500-1500 BC) contexts are rare in East Anglia. Ay other example as large as this has not …

Although flint barbed and tanged arrowheads are a diagnostic early Bronze Age type the unusual nature of the edge working (possibly make by pliers?) and the form (particularly triangular) may suggest a more modern creation and working, perhaps by the Brnadon gun-flint knappers of the 19th and ear…

A piece of worked flint, possibly an unfinished barbed and tanged arrowhead, dating to the Bronze Age (2150 – 800 BC). The barbs and tang are not complete, but the pronounced triangular form is typical. However, the object is rather crude, and worked on one face only (the reverse bears a pronounced bulb of percussion), and barbed and tanged arrowheads are bifacially-knapped. Thus, this identification is not secure. Length: 35mm; width: 28mm; thickness: 8mm; weight unknown, recorded in field.

It may be a pre-form for a tool which was never completed. There is very little dating evidence at this flake could date from anytime between the late Mesolithic and the Bronze Age. Large oval scraper made from a primary flake removed from a flint pebble. The domed dorsal face is covered with pebble flint cortex except around the edges where it has been removed by retouch. The ventral side is plain apart from some possible use-wear chips, it has a very defuse, soft bulb and ripples. Around half the edge on the dorsal face is long, abrupt, parallel retouch. It becomes invasive and more semi-abrupt around one side and is also longer at the point opposite this side with the edges between these areas having shorter scalar retouch and in some areas none at all. It is …

Three small, crude flakes with small areas of retouch, probably Bronze Age in date. Flake 1: Small flake struck off a faceted platform with arises from previous removals from different directions on the dorsal face suggesting multi-platform working on the core. Short area of possible short, semi-abrupt scalar retouch or removals from use as a casual tool in the centre and right corner of the distal edge on the dorsal face. Mid grey-brown flint with palar mottling, 25.5mm long, 27.3mm wide, 4.43 grams. Flake 2: Small flake struck off a platform with arises from previous removals…

Large piriform (teardrop shaped) in outline scraper with a heavily domed dorsal face with a very hackled and damaged surface where it is not retouched. Made from a large piece struck off the cortex with a patch of cortex covering the proximal end and a large, defuse bulb of percussion on the ventral face. Large, invasive, abrupt, parallel retouch or removals down the right edge of the dorsal face , becoming narrower, finer retouch towards the distal end. The distal end it self appears damaged with the edge hackled and broken away but with the remains of large, invasive, abrupt, parall…

A finely, bifacially worked flint leaf-shaped point, probably a dagger of Early Bronze Age date. It is formed from a mottled pale brown flint and is pointed oval shaped in section. The hilt end is pointed, the sides of the object curving outwards to well-defined shoulders before tapering to a sharp point. It measures 130.43mm in length, 45.38mm in width, 11.66mm in thickness, and weighs 57.51g. While this object is similar in form to finely worked leaf-shaped arrowheads and points it would be quite large in size for such an object. More probably it is a finely worked, but small,…

A flint scraper, semit-circular in plan and crude in manufacture. The scraper has been made on a tertiary flake and crude retouching is present on the curved edge of the dorsal surface. Neither the bulb or percussion lines are evident. The scraper is very crude and that suggests a Bronze Age or later date.

A mid to late Bronze Age flint tool. It is formed on a large flake of mottled grey flint. There is crude and irregular retouch along the distal end to form a cutting tool, and removals from the right distal side which could be used as a scraping edge. The workmanship is poor which suggests a late date.
