Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Complete barbed and tanged arrow head of early Bronze Age date c.2200-1800 BC. The arrow head is of a light grey opaic flint of unpatinated dark grey flint with paler inclusions. It is ogival in plan and the face is covered by hammer struck retouch marks. The left-hand tang (when viewed from the dorsal face, point up) has been broken and reworked resulting in a minor discrepancy between barb lengths, or it is just difficulty with working a rather thick part of the initial flake blank. The point also appears to have been broken with no reworking. Length: 16.41mm, Width: 16.8mm, Thickn…

Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete flint retouched flake of Palaeolithic date. The flake has been made from a yellowy-beige flint using hard hammer percussion. The bulb and platform are visible along with some soft-hammer retouching along the left lateral edge. This piece is hard to date as its execution is generally undiagnostic, however it is potentially Palaeolithic (c. 450,000-10,000 BC).
