Three tertiary waste flakes / debitage of chert dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods (2900 – 1800 BC). All the flakes are irregular in plan and profile with a series of varying sized flake facets present on the outer (dorsal) faces. All have clear bulbs of percussion and conchoidal fractures. There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. All the pieces of chert are patinated and slightly white / milky surface colour. They have combined weight of 4.18 grams 1. Measures 25.9mm length, 19.0mm width is 4.3mm thick and weighs 1.66 grams 2. Measures …

Two secondary waste flakes / debitage of flint dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods (2900 – 1800 BC). Both the flakes are irregular in plan and profile with a series of varying sized flake facets present on the outer (dorsal) faces. All have clear bulbs of percussion and conchoidal fractures. There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. Both flakes have less than 50% cortex (outer rind), which is a mid grey white colour – possibly originally from a chalk or limestone based procurement source. All the pieces of flint are patinated and slightly gr…

Seven tertiary waste flakes / debitage of flint dating to the Neolithic or early Bronze Age periods (2900 – 1800 BC). All the flakes are relatively small being irregular in plan and profile with a series of varying sized flake facets present on the outer (dorsal) faces. All have clear bulbs of percussion and conchoidal fractures. There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. These flakes are clear evidence of flint knapping at this site. All the pieces of flint a mid grey – brown colour with little surface patination. They have combined weight of 3.27 grams. …

Tertiary waste of pale grey-yellow coloured flint probably dating to the (earlier) Neolithic period (4000 - 2500 BC). The flake is broadly rectangular with an unusual fracture on one edge (possibly a hinge fracture). There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. The edge of the flake nearest bulb of percussion shows a series of relic scars from previous working. These are damaged by plough abrasion butt suggest that a series of small narrow blade were removed prior to the creation of this flake. This possibly suggests that this flake was removed as part of core rejuv…

Tertiary waste of dark grey coloured flint probably dating to the Neolithic period (3500 - 2500 BC). The flake is broadly rectangular with clear flake facets on the dorsal face. The ventral face has a clear bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures; the bulb has been trimmed as has the striking platform on the edge of the flake. The flake is heavily plough rolled and evidence of reworking cannot be seen. It is possible it may have been reworked into a side scraper. The matrix of the flint is coarse and this might suggest that it may be chert or poor quality possibly from a local gla…

Tertiary waste of light grey coloured chert probably dating to the Neolithic period (3500 – 2100 BC). The flake is broadly sub-triangular with a bowed curved edge. Clear flake facets can be seen on the dorsal face. The ventral face has a clear bulb of percussion and conchoidal fractures. The flake is plough rolled; it is possible that the curved edge has been reworked to form a crude side. The matrix of the chert is coarse. The flake measures: 20.4mm length, 15.2mm width is 3.4mm thick and weighs 1.06 grams

Tertiary waste of mid grey coloured flint probably dating to the Neolithic period (3500 – 2100 BC). The flake is broadly sub-triangular with a bowed curved edge. Clear flake facets can be seen on the ventral face; where both direct and indirect flaking an be observed. The indirect retouch is positioned around a notch in the edge; above this is an area of direct percussion knapping to create a crude cutting edge. Both the flakes are relatively small being irregular in plan and profile with a series of varying sized flake facets present on the outer faces. There is no evidence of reworking or secondary flaking present. These flakes are clear evidence of flint knapping at this site. Knapped and flaked tertiary flint flake / debitage or possible scraper of later Neolithic date. The flake is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section. There is a crescent shaped post depositional fracture present towards the proximal end of the flake. On the ventral (reverse) face clear evidence of conchoidal fractures and bulb of percussion are present. The majority of secondary work has been applied to the dorsal (upper) face of the flake. The ventral (reverse) is relatively un-flaked. The reworking / retouch has been applied to the distal (lower) end of the fla…

An irregular primary waste flake / debitage of probable Neolithic date (3500 - 2100 BC). This piece of flint has been deliberately removed from the outer face of a flint nodule to prepare it for further work and tool production. Conchoidal ripples are present on the dorsal (reverse) side. There are several flint removal scars that are mostly likely the result of plough roll. It measures 45.17mm length, 41.13mm width, 11.65mm thick and weighs 19.4 grams.

A tertiary waste flake / debitage of flint dating to the later Neolithic - early Bronze Age (2900 - 1800 BC). The flake is semi-circular in plan. A bulb of percussion is present on the dorsal (lower) surface. There are signs of secondary retouch along the outer edges, possibly for reuse of the flake as a scraper. There are flint scars present from post depositional damage such as plough roll. This flake is clear evidence of flint knapping at the site. The flake measures 32.48mm length, 51.20mm width, 5.01mm thick and weighs 9.5 grams.
