A broken fragment of a flint core of undetermined prehistoric date (Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age, c. 10,000-1600 BC). The flint is a dark grey colour with brown mottling throughout. A small section of cortex remains. A small number of removals are evident; the fragment appears to have broken laterally. The fragment is amorphous and has modern damage.

A rejuvenation flake from a flint core, possibly dating to the Neolithic date (4000-2400 BC)
The core fragment is from a tertiary flake and is covered mostly in a matte white patina with occasion mid grey inclusions (c. 2.5mm diameter) and orange iron staining.
The striking platform for the flake survives as does a shallow bulb of percussion although no ripples emanating from this are visible, potentially suggesting the use of a soft hammer. The distal end of this flake terminates in a rounded hinge fracture. The dorsal surface shows at least six flake removal scars coming f…

Mesolithic to Neolithic (c. 6,500 to c. 2,200 BC) core: The core is traingular in section and sub-rectangular in profile. One face is almost completely covered in cortex. The core appears to be used to produce long, parrallel blades of varying width. The core has one striking platform to remove blades, The flint is a mottled light to dark grey colour.
The core measures 75.77mm long, 28.67mm wide, is 22.58mm thick and weighs 61.29 grams.
The core probably dates to the Mesolithic to Neolithic period when taking into account of the single striking platform, blades, and parrell…

A probable rejuvenation flake from a polished flint axe-head, possibly dating to the Neolithic (4000-2400 BC)
The object is subrectangular in plan with rounded edges and a pointed-oval in cross section. The dorsal surface has smooth patches and there are several shallow areas where ripples can be seen from percussion strikes which tend to have been struck from the edge of the object towards its centre. The ventral surface is far more irregular with one clear hinge fracture. There appear also to be occasional removals but these may have occured after the object…

A complete flint core rejuvenation flake of probable prehistoric date, c.9000-2000 BC.
The core is conical in shape, and sub-circular in plan. The dorsal face shows multiple flake scars and the original striking platform, which was removed to create a new platform. The dorsal face shows at least four earlier flake removals, and a small bulb of percussion. The core has a mid brown patina with patches of off white on the dorsal and ventral faces.
The core is 43.5mm long, 45.1mm wide, 17.2mm thick, and weighs 30.2 grams.

Core rejuvenation flake that has three long thin blade removal scars on the front and right face, each has a negative bulb of percussion at its top edge where there is a prepared platform at the top. The left side retains its cortex. On the reverse is a single large concave flaking scar. The flint is covered in a patchy creamy speckled grey patina with dark brown flint in the areas that have been chipped (natural damage). This is a core rejuvenation flake from the top of a Late Mesolithic blade core.

Five flint core fragments dating to the Mesolithic period (10,000-4001 BC). The cores are in varying states of preservation, with at least two showing modern plough damage. The removals are long and thin, typical of mesolithic microlith or bladelet production and are single platformed, with removal being taken from the same direction. All retain at least 10% coretx. The flints are all mottled blue-grey in colour.

Four bladelet cores dating to the Mesolithic period (c. 10,000-4,000 BC). Three out of the four cores appear complete; one has suffered post-depositional damage. The three complete examples all have flat platforms and multiple single direction bladelet removals. The cores are worked in such a way as to create a cone-shaped core. The removals are long and thin, producing bladelets that could be fashioned into other tools, such as microliths. Three out of the four cores, including the damaged one, have some element of cortex remaining.
