A small oval bifacially worked flint knife of Neolithic date. Both sides have intrusive and covering long low angle retouch on the distal portion. The proximal end retains buff coloured cortex and is largely unrefined, suggesting the knife may have been hafted to a handle.

Grey flint knife, as kindly identified by the finder. A thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a bulbar ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch follows a curving edge; a chip was probably damage incurred in antiquity as orange staining from contact with gravels passes over the broken surface. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC Length: 42.5mm, Width: 38.4mm, Thickness: 14.4mm, Weight: 18.06gms

A flint probable knife of uncertain date, Mesolithic to early Bronze Age, 10000 BC - 1000 BC. It is a large tertiary flake of mottled light grey flint which is roughly rectangular, with the right distal corner curved and the left distal corner extending into a slight point. The curved right edge is retouched from the dorsal face with short, low-angle sub-parallel removals. The distal end has similar retouch, and the left side is retouched in the same way but from the ventral face. There are scars of glue on the reverse where the flint has previously been mounted on cardboard.…

Pale grey flint with cortex possible knife fragment. A large flake with an apparently curved cutting edge, neatly truncated on one end where a flat and possibly smoothed surface of lentoid form appears. A large flake has been removed from behind the putative cutting edge by hard hammer strike from the dorsal aspect, possibly affording a thumb rest. Short abrupt retouch executed from the ventral aspect appears to follow the curving edge, its progress marked by the removal of a pale patinated surface to reveal the pale grey flint below – though a similar colour change also appears …

An incomplete flint knife dating to the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age period (c.4000-2500 BC). The knife is sub-rectangular in shape and has a straight break at the base. It is made from a dark grey flint. The dorsal face presents scaled retouch around the edges with a significant amount of cortex in the centre. It is unclear if the object is unfinished. The ventral face is untouched.  Dimensions: Length 41.6mm; width 31.7mm; thickness 8.5mm; weight 17.32g This object is a part of a collection of flints that have been recovered from three fields over a number of …

An incomplete worked flint knife of probable Neolithic to Bronze Age date (c.4500-1500BC) Description: The object is broadly triangular in plan and trapezoid in cross section. It has been produced from a tertiary flake of translucent light brown flint. The mesal curve equally to form a point at the distal end but there is a clean break across the object so the proximal end is missing. One face is slightly flatter and has invasive, sub-parallel, low angle retouch. The other face is slightly convex and has covering, scaled, low angle retouch. Measurements: Leng…

An incomplete flint knife probably dating from the Neolithic period, 4000 BC - 2200 BC. It is triangular in plan, broken across one end and rounded at the other which curves to one side. It could also be the tip of a sickle, but seems too small. It is formed on a tertiary flake of opaque light grey flint. It has bifacial invasive, low-angle, scaled retouch on one side (the concave side). It is 33.6mm long, 15.8mm wide and 3.8mm thick. 1.9g. Some glue adheres to one face, where the flint has previously been mounted post-recovery.

A fragment of a flint probable knife dating from the Neolithic period, 4000 BC - 2200 BC. The flint is broken obliquely at both ends, forming a triangular shape, and the surviving side is retouched. It is formed on a tertiary flake of semi-translucent brown flint. It has bifacial  invasive, semi-abrupt, scaled retouch on the side. It is 25.6mm long, 28.8mm wide and 5.6mm thick. 3.4g. Some glue adheres to one face, where the flint has previously been mounted post-recovery.

Flint knife on a secondary flake. This flake one arrise on the dorsal and a large bulb of percussion bulb on the ventral. The is short, low angled, direct retouch on the left side. The right side and top edge have suffered extensive frost damage. Grey flint with a creamy speckled patina forming the areas of frost damage has removed the patina exposing the flint.

A Mesolithic-Neolithic backed blade. Formed on a broadly triangular cross section flake, the material is dark grey with spots of light patination. The ventral face has a shallow bulb of percussion. Half of the ventral surface has the characteristic ripples running down the full length of the blade. The dorsal face has a pair of converging flat ridges that combine into a single flat ridge running to the distal end. The concave upper edge of the blade has abrupt retouch, producing a crushed like edge, perhaps for comfort in use. The convex cutting edge has Semi-…

A prehistoric flint knife, possibly dating from the Neolithic period c. 4000 – 2351 BC. The knife is incomplete, with a surviving length of 46.67mm, a maximum surviving width of 18.16, a maximum thickness of 4.86 mm. It has been worked with scalar retouch along the left dorsal margin, it has a stepped fracture resulting in the loss of most of the right margin. There is retouch on the remaining left ventral margin towards the knife tip. The flint is brown-grey in colour, unpatinated, and non-cortical.

Bifacial asymmetrical leaf shaped point, of mid grey mottled flint with slight iron stains to both faces, complete, apart from the very tip of the point appears to be damaged and a small notch to one side just below the missing tip, all other edges are a little roughly knapped, but appear to be in good condition otherwise. The blank for this piece was a wide tertiary flake, probably hard hammer struck, the bulb of percussion on the blank flake was orientated to one side, not the point as is usual, the bulb has been removed by the semi-invasive direct percussion to both faces to shape …

A large flint tool, probably a knife, struck from a sub-triangular flake of dark grey to black flint. The distal edge is curved and has been extensively retouched on one side only, with long, low angle retouch. The dorsal surface retains two small patches (c. 20%) of grey cortex. The ventral surface is slightly convex. Probably of early to middle Neolithic date.

Pale buff flint knife, as kindly identified by the finder. A curved triangular-section flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb at the broader end of its ventral surface. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows the curving convex outer edge of the concavo-convex form. Dense creamy patina suggests the object has subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment; the tint of flint is revealed by a small chip at the narrow end.
