The axe has been made from a mottled grey flint which is now patinated a greenish-brown, probably from being in a river. There are a few patches of calcareous concretions. The axe has flattened side facets and a number of deeper flake scars are visible within the ground surface. The axe measures 167mm long and 65mm wide. It is 36mm thick and weighs 441g.
