A gunflint struck from a tertiary flake of dark grey flint which has short abrupt retouch all around to create a subrectangular flake. The proximal end retains a patch of cortext and has a curved back resembling a scraper. The side profile is triangular and the bulb of percussion is large and centrally placed suggesting working with an iron hammer. The size and shape suggest that the gunflint is of French origin.

A complete knapped gun-flint from a flintlock musket of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600 - 1900. The gun-flint is formed from a tertiary flake of translucent mid-grey flint. The flint is retangular in shape, and trapezoid in cross section, and has been worked around the edges of the flint. The flint is a light grey brown colour, with white patches. It measures 32.3mm in length, 27.5mm in width, 7.8mm in thickness, and weighs 10.24g. An incomplete Post Medieval gunflint from a flint lock rifle, dating AD 1700-1850. The flint has been worked to form a trapezoidal shape in plan with 3 faces where blades have been removed on the top. One side is rough and irregularly cut, tapering to a narrower evenly worked side which is now damaged missing part of the edge. Dimensions: length: 34.35mm; width: 30.88mm; thickness: 10.31mm; weight: 16.27g. Pale buff flint gunflint. A rectangular flake with three broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and  with a slightly bulbar ventral surface. Battering of two opposed sides suggests two episodes of use with a flintlock musket. The object may have been designed to be one inch square. The flintlock was under introduction, particularly for use by specialised troops such as the guards of artillery trains, during the English Civil War. A gunflint dating from the Post Medieval period, about 1650-1850. Knapped from a translucent dark brown flint, the object is rectangular in plan with a trapezoidal section, forming the characteristic truncated pyramid shape. There is a semi-circular notch one third of the way along the leading edge. Its size suggests it was used in a flintlock pistol, having a length of 21.10mm, a width of 14.70mm and a thickness of 5.23mm. It weighs 2.26g.
