A  Lower Palaeolithic bifacial flint handaxe of Acheulean tradition dating to c. 500,000 to 250,000 BC. This is a 'ficron' type handaxe which belongs to the Middle Acheulean tradition. Flint blade, a probable fabricator based on the form, therefore dating between the Mesolithic to Early Bronze Age (10,000 - 1600 B.C.) . Flint, dark-grey at the distal end and central portion, light-grey at the proximal end. Semi-translucent, some cortex remaining, medium gloss patina. Sub-rectangular, but slightly curved in both plan and profile, with rounded terminals. Secondary working. The proximal end exhibits a striking platform.
