(1999) type E/?J, of light grey/brown misty patination over a dark chocolate brown colour, the point has been broken recently at an angle revealing that the flint was originally dark brown, some of the high points to the flake scars are iron stained from contact with agricultural machinery. Small, asymmetric handaxe in fairly fresh condition, of mottled grey flint, now lightly patinated dark brownish apart from the cortex extant to the dorsal face, this is thin, but retains the chalky off-white colour. Being under ten cm long, it is classified as a Wymer (1999) type E, the asymmetry to the profile (plano-convex) and plan (one edge appears to have been intentionally blunted, for handling?) is probably due to the shape of the blank from which it was made from, likely to have been a thermal (frost) fracture or a large struck flake, something of similar cross section to begin…
