A flint Awl dating from the Mesolithic period. The awl is formed on a sub-oval microlithic flake of patinated flint. The point is at the proximal end on the medial ridge of the dorsal face. The right proximal end has abrupt retouch to form a notch which extenuates the point and there is a removal on the left side of the dorsal face to form the point. Small complete microlith made from yellowish/honey-coloured flint dating from the later Mesolithic-early Neolithic period. The microlith is very small and may have been formed from a snapped bladelet using the microburin technique. It is likely that this flint would have been one part of a composite tool or weapon which utilised many other small flints, quite possibly an arrow or a spear or harpoon.
