Record ID: SWYOR-DD2934
Object type: CORE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A large flint core, probably dating to the Mesolithic due to its size. Knapping has taken place all over this piece of flint and no cortex survives. There is even and narrow blade removal, which is also characteristic of the Mesolithic. The patina is a light grey hue and measures 36.8mm x 38.9mm x 35.9mm, weighing 83.70g

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint blade with evidence of retouch on the left edge towards the distal end. The distal end has a fairly straight break. This is a secondary flake with approximately 20% cortex remaining on the dorsal surface. This blade is probably Neolithic due to its broad dimensions. It measures 30.0mm x 21.6mm x 8.9mm, weighing 6.45g.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fairly small flint blade. The cutting edge runs along the right edge, looking from the proximal dorsal end. Concoidal fractures are present on the ventral side and the dorsal side is covered with cortex still. The cortex is a grey, pale brown colour. It measures 29.3mm x 12.7mm x 4.7mm, weighing 2.16g. The blade could possibly be Mesolithic given its narrow size, although it is difficult to say.

Record ID: SWYOR-DD6972
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint blade. The flint is black, with a white cortex remaining, The cutting edge is on the distal end looking from the dorsal side. There is some natural damage on the blade edge, which could be mistaken for fine retouching. However the damage is not precise enough to be deliberate reworking. This type of blade is not diagnostic and therefore a date is uncertain. It could possibly be from the Mesolithic given its small size. It measures 23.6mm x 11.6mm x 4.3mm, weighing 1.31g.

Object type: KNIFE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint knife. This flint has retouch down the left side. This appears to have been through use and reuse. The edge therefore appears serrated. The patina on the ventral side seems to be tainted a cream, orange colour, probably resulting from an iron rich context. It measures 49.5mm x 33.8mm x 13.8mm, weighing 23.76g. This knife is probably late Neolithic, and similar knives can be seen in Edmunds 1995, fig.117.
