A barbed and tanged arrowhead, formed by knapping. It is made of a pale semi- transluscent flint with some inclusions. It is slightly flatter on one side then the other, and the tip of one of the barbs is missing. Having been found near a beach it has been worn so no sharp edge remains, but the shape is consistent. Arrowheads such as these, see also NMGW-24C12C, are classified as Sutton Type B (Green 1980) are commonly associated with the emergence of the Beaker phenomenon in Britain. A large flint blade core of later mesolithic date with a single striking platform, struck from a dark brown flint. The core is triangular in shape with parallel removal scars around half of its circumference. A patch of grey-brown cortex remains down one side. The other has a single large removal scar with battering damage and small flaked removals around the edge, running off it one side perpendicular to the striking platform and partially overlying it. This suggests a secondary use for the core, possibly as a hammer.
