Side scraper. Sub oval in plan. The ventral face changes in colour as it nears the outer edge of cortex which may be a sign that the piece had been heated. The dorsal face has been abruptly retouched at the proximal end giving quite a serrated/ denticulated edge. The dorsal face is covered in cortex at a primary level. Fractures continue down the rest of the proximal end. There are signs of use wear at the retouched proximal end. It is made from brown pebble flint.
Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 107, Fig 43, No 13 which dates to the Neolithic.

A moderately thin secondary flake of translucent brown flint with cream grey cloudiness. The striking platform is the pebble cortex and this extends around the right margin and forms a comfortable blunt back for utlising the right margin and distal end. From semi-abrupt flakework near the proximal end it becomes more invasive and forms parallel invasive flaking curving from the right distal margin around the distal end. This fine flakework may be Beaker; Bond(2004), fig.5.133, F162-F170.

A large pot-lid spall of heat damaged altered red and grey flint. The dorsal surface is largely original and carries 2 straight, parallel ridges which may be from a competent blade technology. Its' left margin has 2 semi-abruptly flaked notches which may be from re-use of this fragment harvested from a hearth area. The ventral surface is the thermal spall and within it is a major blown out concavity which would have made a good finger hold for further semi-abrupt edge-work on the right margin to be used as a side scraper. Other knowing use of pot-lid dimpled waste with ready-made fing…

A small flint implement, created on a secondary flake. Probably a scraper and notched-flake, but possibly an unusually shaped arrowhead. Sub-triangular in shape, the object does look rather like a crude or damaged Neolithic arrow-head. However, it is complete, apart from a missing tip to the distal end and would probably be too mishapen to function as an arrow head. Neither does it fit in well to the standard typology of arrowheads from this period. A small amount of cortex remains to the right of the distal end of the dorsal face. Semi-abrupt to low angle, invasive, scaled retouch can…

Probable flint side scraper. The object has a large, wide butt covered with chalky cortex. Both faces of convex. The dorsal face is quite rough, uneven and covered with small flaking scars, suggesting that it may be a rejuvenation flake from a core. The ventral face, however, is covered with fine, small removals and invasive, sub-parallel, low angle retouch along the left edge, suggesting that the flake has then been made into a scraper. It is probably of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date.
