One thumbnail scraper made from a much larger flake. Almost circular with cortex covering the dorsal face apart from the around the edges. Long, abrupt (60-80 degrees) parallel retouch around entire circumference, semi-parallel in places. Damage at the thicker end on the ventral and dorsal faces were several chips have been lost. Very faint ripples on ventral face, direction of strike unclear. Dark gray-black flint. 27.4mm by 25.9mm varying in thickness form 10.4mm at one end to 6.2mm at other, 8.08 grams.

A short, thin flake of translucent brown flint, filled with cream grey and cream smokiness. The plan is square with a distal end terminated by a hinge. The left margin is trimmed by snapping but the right has been invasively retouched with sub-parallel narrow, slightly oblique scars.Being well within the 20mm size class it may be called a button or thumb nail scraper.The style of the retouch also suggest a Later Neolithic type, rather than the more abruptly retouched Mesolithic micro-scrapers.Butler(2005) illustrates button scrapers on page 166, fig.70, 1-3.

A flint thumb nail scraper dating from the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. The scraper is D shaped in plan and shows evidence of having been in a fire, either to heat treat the flint, or accidentally. The surface of the flint is cracked and fractured. There is semi-invasive retouch round the curved side. The flint has a white patina. Similar scrapers can be seen on page 166 of Butler (2005) "Prehistoric Flintwork".

A flint scraper of the Neolithic period. The scraper is of the 'thumbnail' variety. It is semicircular in plan and wedge-shaped in profile, with the thickening toward the scraping edge, which bears traces of pressure flaking to form the edge.
