A possible late Bronze Age/Iron Age flint hammerstone dating to c 1000-1BC.  The hammerstone comprises a flint nodule which has the cotex retained at the bottom as the hammer area.  The sides have flaked to create a comfortable position to hold the stone.  The top has been roughly shaped and may also have been used for hammering.

A possible lithic implement dating to the late Bronze age or Early Iron Age, c. 1000 - 350 BC. The tool is crudely worked from a natural flint flake. It has a triangular cross section. The dorsal side has a large negative scar and one long edge has short abrupt retouch. Iron staining is present on the ridges of sides. Measurements: length: 99.89mm; width: 55.33mm; thickness: 30.21mm; weight: 163g. The use of natural flakes in this way is a feature of the later lithic industries.

A complete flint implement of possible Neolithic to Bronze Age date (3500 BC-800 BC). The tool is sub-rectangular in plan and cross-section and has been manufactured on a flat piece of flint. The dorsal surfaces has a sandy/buff coloured cortex and the edges have been knapped to an abrupt angle with short, scaled and stepped removals. The ventral surface is flat and featureless and is covered in a thin layer of greyish brown cortex. This tool has an unusual form and may have been used for scraping. 116.43 x 35.36 x 21.06mm. Weight: 117.38g. No analogy found.

A human worked piece of flint derived from a small round section beach pebble. It has been strongly but quite slowly heated by fire to an orangey red colour with dark red remaining cortex. Only a thin but complete circumference of this is left as both ends of the pebble are missing. This may have been mostly from spalling but it is possible that some pecking also removed the hackly and brittle internally crazed flint. The less even end is slightly concave and although the surface is hackly it has been smoothed at its edges where it meets the cortex. It has a small 2mm square shiny bla…

A flint pebble recovered through fieldwalking in Rimpton. Flint is not natural to this area and the pebble must have been imported, possibly for use as a sling shot. There are no obvious signs of wear to suggest it had another function. It weighs 38.99g and measures 38.20mm x 29.61mm x 25.04mm. Possibly of Iron Age date.
