A possible core rejuvenation flake, likely dating between the Late Mesolithic and Early Neolithic periods (7000-3500 B.C.). The flint is semi-translucent and grey-brown in colour, with two small white patches and a medium gloss patina. It is a secondary flake as a small amount of cortex remains along one edge. The flake is sub-triangular in shape. The shorter of the three edges is a flat, where the flake terminates in a step fracture. The second edge is thicker, exhibits some scars, and a small amount of cortex. The third edge has …

Fragment of a larger core with damage on the ventral fance and proximal end. On the dorsal face scars from multiple previous parallel removals, small and large, suggest there was a prepared platform at the proximal end, now missing. The break on the ventral face has started in the centre and therefore appears to be accidental or frost damaged. There is an area of cortex at the distal end covering c. 20% of the surface. The entire piece is 58.7mm by 52.5mm by 19.1mm thick and weighs 49.33g. Given the other material found in proximity it is likely to be Neolithic.

A chert core of Mesolithic to Early Neolithic date (c. 8000 - 3500 BC). The core is conical in shape and has at least two striking platforms. It retains c. 5% cortex at the tip of the conical projection. The core exhibits eight parallel negative flake scars from the production of blades and bladelets. The chert is a dark grey with occasional white inclusions and some iron staining. The core measures 39.19mm in length, 35.52mm maximum width, 8.63mm minimum width and weighs 32.28g.

A Mesolithic flint multi-platform core, dating to the period c.9000-4000BC. The core exhibits 3 striking platforms and exhibits a number of negative flake scars and some fracturing, probably caused by mis-strikes. One surface exhbits a lenticular striking platform and bulb of percussion, indicating that the piece may have been struck as a core rejuvination flake. The chert is dark grey in colour and retains c.<5% cortex of its total area. The core measures 29.51mm in length, 26.20mm in width, 13.52mm in thickness and weighs 10.10g.
