A fragment of a flint core of the Mesolithic/early Neolithic period dating to 10,000-3,500 BC. It has a conical shape and has been manufactured from a dark grey flint; it has one oval striking platform from which run long, narrow and parallel blade removal scars down the observe face. The reverse face has a bulb of percussion, hence the item is a fragment of a larger original core. No cortex is retained. Height: 43.70mm Width at widest part or striking platform: 23.31mm Max diameter: 56.26mm Weight: 36.34g

A crude blade fashioned from a core. The flint is dark grey, with some blue/grey patination. From a single striking platform two blade scars extend, with a third just to the side; the central scar ends in an abrupt break where the cortex has stopped the removal, possibly the outcome that inspired the removal of the blade; however, the thick scar along one edge makes it very comfortable to hold, with a still-sharp cutting surface opposite. The reverse side shows a clear bulb of percussion and has exposed an area of weakness in the flint at the bottom of the removal. It measures 60mm…

A knapped flint core of probable Bronze Age date, c. 2500-1500 BC. The core is sub-rectangular in plan, demonstrating removals from both faces and sides with little apparent care for flake direction and forethought of detachment. Heavily worked down (probably representing the reason for its discard), it is now patinated a yellowy grey colour with some iron staining visible on its surfaces. Preserved in relatively fresh condition, the core measures 71.43mm in length down its longest axis, c. 56.14mm wide at its widest point and 30.8mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 159.6g.

Core, made from a large hard hammer struck flake, with a large bulbal scar to the ventral face, and several semi-invasive and centripetally struck hard hammer flakes removed from the dorsal face, also towards the centre of this face is a patch of thermally (frost) fracured surface where the flakes haven't overlapped. Banded flint now patinated white, yellow and orange. Possibly Early Neolithic, cf. Butler (2005) page 120, fig. 47, nuber 6 for a broadly similar dicoidal core.
