Dense white patina overall suggests the object subsequently endured exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Length: 50.7mm, Width: 33.8mm, Thickness: 14.6mm, Weight: 19.19gms

Flint possible borer. A thick sub-triangular flake with broad flakes removed by hard hammer from its dorsal side and with a flat ventral surface. Angled retouch executed from the dorsal aspect defines a short [now] six-sided point. A dense creamy patina suggests the object was subsequently exposed to a calcareous environment, a common feature of flint reported hereabouts, though apparently unrelated to the local geology. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Length: 49.7mm, Width: 28.2mm, Thickness: 11.7mm, Weight: 13.12gms

A probable Late Mesolithic to Neolithic knapped and retouched borer dating to c. 7000 - 2100 BC. The implement is formed from a tertiary flake, and shows signs of retouch along one side of the dorsal face. The proximal end has been knapped to produce a point, the tip of which is broken. It is dark grey in colour.. Measurements: Length 56.34mm , Width 21.68mm , Thickness 4.83mm , Weight 4.6g

A probable Neolithic knapped and retouched borer dating to c. 4000 - 2100 BC. The borer is made from a tertiary flint flake which does not retains any cortex although one surface is differently patinated than the others, being a mottled white colour. The flint is brown-orange in colour with occasional irregular off-white inclusions on both surfaces. The borer is an irregular shape with a pointed proximal end. The sides extending from the proximal tip have short, stepped, semi-abrupt retouch on the long edges of the dorsal surface. There is also at least three earlier flake remova…

Pale grey flint borer. Sub-triangular flake with a broad flake struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb on its ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from dorsal and ventral aspects defines a short facetted point. One of the edges leading to the springing of the point also bears very fine serrations. Pale patina suggests subsequent exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Length: 31.1mm, Width: 22.6mm, Thickness: 7.1mm, Weight: 4.80gms

A probable Neolithic knapped and retouched borer dating to c. 4000 - 2100 BC. The borer is made from a secondary flint flake which retains a thick orange white pebble cortex on part of its dorsal surface. The flint is dark grey colour with occasional light grey freckles on its ventral surface. The borer is an irregular shape with a pointed proximal end. This the sides extending from the proximal tip have short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt retouch on the dorsal surface. There is also at least three earlier flake removals from this surface struck in the same direction as the flake. The ve…
