Incomplete flint laurel leaf knife point of probable Neolithic date (c. 4000 - 2350 BC). The flint is a mottled grey and white colour. There is a flat edge where it has been broken from the complete implement. The object is consequently sub-triangular in plan and bi-convex in section, tapering slightly towards its point which sits slightly to one side. There is limited bi-facial retouch which is invasive, subparallel and low-angle and while the edge is sharp, it does not appear to have been finely worked. A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date (circa 4000-2350BC). The implement is most likely a knife, although could be a small Neolithic hand-axe shaped implement known as an 'Ovate' dating to the Late Neolithic (3000-2350BC). However, the implement is not bifacially worked to the extent expected of an Ovate. The implement appears to have been knapped from a primary flake, from which secondary and tertiary flakes have been removed from the ventral surface. The Dorsal face has been worked to remove cortex on the left medial edge, leaving a substantial amount on the right…

A possible flint knife, made from a tertiary flake which is roughly D shaped. The flake has been bifacially worked with covering, low angle scaled retouch on both sides. However, there is no abrupt retouch backing which is typical of D shaped knives dating to the Early to Middle Neolithic. Therefore this date of this object is uncertain. The flint is grey with patches of white and black. This object measures. 54.55mm long x 49.43mm wide x 14.52mm thick. It weighs 38.66g.
