A complete pointed flint handaxe dating to the Paleolithic. Handaxes were manufactured in Britain from 500,000 BC to 40,000 BC. A Palaeolithic flint handaxe probably dating to c. 500,000-40,000BC. The handaxe is piriform in plan with a rounded trapezoidal butt, when viewed in profile the axe generally gets thicker towards the point and has a relatively straight cutting edge. It appears to have been worked bifacially, but is extremely heavily rolled. Dimensions: Approximately 90mm in length, 50mm in width and 30mm in thickness.

An incomplete polished flint axehead, probably dating to c. 4,000-2,400 BC. The axehead is missing both the butt-end and cutting edge, both lost to irregular, patinated breaks. Both sides of the axehead have been polished to create a regular facet, while both faces are convex, createing a sub-rectangular cross section. The flint has patinated white, with some areas of orange iron staining. Length 68.7mm; Width 36.1mm; thickness 19.3mm; weight 61.08g.
