Three blades/bladelet, comprising one parallel-sided prismatic (trapezoidal- to triangular cross-section) blade in mid greyish and brownish grey flint, with a small bulb of percussion and well-prepared platform edge – possibly the result of indirect percussion ; and two smaller, thinner and less regular bladelets (one secondary, with a fillet of thin worn nodule cortex along part of one margi; and broken, and lacking its distal end) both made in dark or mid-dark grey flint. All are unmodified, but there are small areas of post-depositional edge-damage. Unpatinated and in moderately…

Part of a probably Mesolithic flint blade, probably dating to the period c.9000-4000BC. It is a secondary piece with one small patch of pebble cortex surviving near its proximal end. The artefact is rectangular with a triangular cross section. The dorsal face has two negative blade scars from previous removal. One of the mesal edges have areas of chipping. There is a snap at the proximal end, thus removing the striking platform and bulb of percussion. The flint is a medium grey with areas of mottled white. The pebble cortex is a medium brown and orange colour. The lithic is 21.8mm …

Distal section of a tertiary flint blade, probably of Mesolithic date, c. 8300 to 3500 BC. The proximal end and the bulb of percussion are missing. The break is irregular with a hinge fracture and irregular breaks on the back; there are possible evidence of retouch on the front but it may be damage rather than deliberate breaking. There is a second retouched notch however about half the way down where the flint changes from translucent grey to opaque buff-grey. This notch is formed by short semi-parallel shallow to abrupt retouch and suggests the piece was being reworked to from micro…

Distal end of a econdary flint blade, probably of Mesolithic to Early Neolithic date. The blade is elongated and curved with a high arched dorsal face. Traces of cortex on left medial and proximal end covered c. 20% of dorsal face. The dorsal surface has three parallel vertical scars created by uni-directional flaking. The proximal end and bulb of percussion have been removed by snapping. A few long scalar removals at this point may indicate the snapping was deliberate. The flint is dark brown. Almost flat, smooth ventral face with faint conchoidal ripples. Dorsal face shows scars of parallel flake removal. At the proximal end a later flake removal has left a negative hinge fracture. There are multiple long scalar abrupt removals on the dorsal face at the distal end which may relate to the original working on the core or damage from use / post-deposition. The proximal piece is, 29.4mm by 25.9mm by 7.8mm, 7.04 grams. The distal piece is 16.2mm by 16.9mm by 2.8mm, 0.66 grams.

Proximal ends of two flint blades, probably Mesolithic in date. Both have bulbs of percussion on the ventral face and scars from repeated parallel removals from the same platform on the dorsal face. Both have snaps at the distal end. One is a secondary piece in dark gray to black flint with c.5% cortex remaining at the distal end, 27.2mm by 11.4mm by 4.2mm, 1.42 grams. The second is a tertiary piece in pale grey flint with a white patina, the snap is unpatinated and may be more recent, 17.7mm by 11.9mm by 3.5mm, 0.75 grams.

One flint blade and one section of a blade, probably Mesolithic to Neolithic in date. 1. Secondary blade with c.5% cortext at the distal end. Bulb of percussion and ripples on the ventral face, scars from previous parallel blade removals on the dorsal face. Translucent Mid-pale grey flint, the cortex suggests pebble flint, 32.2mm by 15.5mm by 5.1mm, 2.14g. 2. Central section of a tertiary blade. Hinge fracture at the distal end, probbaly deliberate snapping at the proximal end, scars from previous parallel blade removals on the dorsal face. Very chipped edges. Mid-dark buff flint,…

Proximal end of a snapped chert tertiary blade of Mesolithic to early Neolithic date. The blade has a snap at the distal end, bulb of percussion at the proximal end on the ventral face and arises from previous parallel removals from the same platform on the dorsal face. The edges are chipped but there is a also a small area of retouch in the centre of the left edge, viewed from the dorsal side. Possibly an attempt to further snap the blade. Dark brown chert with white mottling. 28.3mm long, 15.2mm wide and 4.5mm thick; it weighs 2.49 grams.

One fragment of a knapped flint blade and one bladelet or piece of debitage, both probably Mesolithic in date. The bladelet has a bulb of percusison on the ventral face and evidence of previous parallel removals form the same platform on the dorsal face; 0.37 grams. The fragment is the middle section of a blade with clear percussion waves on the ventral face and arises from parallel removals on the dorsal. There are multiple chips from the edges, some of which maybe accidental others may be from deliberate attempts to snap the blade; 0.97 grams. High quality dark grey flint.
