An incomplete barbed and tanged arrowhead of Green, H.S. (1980) possible Sutton type dating to the Early Bronze Age c. 2500 - 1500 BC. The arrowhead appears to have been discarded mid knapping. The flint is glossy, mid to dark brown, with flake scars on the front surface, while the reverse has ripples and irregular scaring.  Barbed and Tanged arrowheads are associated with the Bronze Age Beaker Period, c. 2500 - 1500 BC and are usually found within Beaker burials. An almost complete barbed and tanged arrowhead of Green, H.S. (1980) Sutton type dating to the Early Bronze Age 2500 - 1500 BC. The barbs are incomplete, and the tip of the arrowhead is missing, otherwise the arrowhead is in good condition.  The flint is glossy, dark brown, both faces are completely covered with invasive pressure flaking scars that overlap in the middle of each face, a larger flake scar on one side may indicate trace of original flake blank which the arrowhead was knapped from. Barbed and Tanged arrowheads are associated with the Bronze Age Beaker Period, …

Flint debitage from blade production, possibly dating between the Middle to Late Bronze Age (1600-800 B.C.) Flint, mid- to dark-grey, semi-translucent, small amounts of white cortex, medium gloss patina. Sub-rectangular in plan. Secondary working. The distal end terminates with a hinge fracture. The proximal end exhibits a striking platform. The dorsal surface is scarred from previous working. On of the barbs may be chipped at the corner. The barbs are short, with a fairly straight edge leading to shallow rounded notches at the tang (unlike the deeper notches of some arrowheads that create elongated barbs). The tang is short with a rounded terminal. A retouched flint flake of unknown date, but probably dating between the Neolithic and Middle Bronze Age periods, c. 4000-1000 BC. It is a tertiary flake of mid-grey translucent flint, with three edges. Length 23.13mm, width 23.75mm, thickness 4.24mm, weight 2.58g. The retouch varies; on the ventral face the retouch can be seen on two edges, it is long, stepped and semi-abrupt. On the dorsal face the same edges exhibit long, scaled, semi-abrupt retouch. The third edge on the dorsal face has short, sub-parallel, abrupt retouch.

Thumbnail scraper on opaque mid brown flint becomeing paler towards one side and with medium sized pale mottles. The scraper is D shaped in plan with a curved distal end with long to invasive, parallel semi abrupt retouch along the entire edge from the ventral face. As the ends of this retouch has come over a thicker area towards the centre the force has gone out of it and they have interferred with each other to leave shalow scalar removals. Faint diffuse waves of percussion on the ventral face and one accidental removal which has taken of most of the shallow bulb. Part of the pl…

Flint scraper of probable late Neolithic or early Bronze Age date, c. 3300-1000 BC. Tertiary flake of dark brown/black flint, with some areas mottled slightly with cloudy white. The bulb of percussion has not survived, however there are pronounced ripples on the ventral face, which is unworked. The break at the proximal end appears to have been used as the platform for at least one removal, a small blade-like flake, presumably to thin the dorsal face, this removal has left a pronounced negative scar underneath the point of percussionn suggesting a hard hammer was used. The removal cut…

Probably a palaeolithic flint tool reused in the later prehistoric period, possibly as a knife or other cutting tool. The tool is of a dark brown/black flint, rolled and with significant areas of iron staining. At more recent removal scars the flint can be seen to be mottled with cloudy white areas and rare white inclusions. The tool is D-shaped in plan, and with a truncated pointed oval cross section, with the dorsal face being more pronouncedly curved than the ventral. The initial working of the tool is bifacial, with covering, sub-parallel semi-abrupt retouch on the dorsal fac…

A Flint borer, probably Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, c. 3300-1000 BC. Worked from a tertiary flake of very dark brown/black flint with some grey/brown patches near proximal end. No striking platform survives, with a relatively diffuse bulb of percussion although with a bulbar scar. There are three flake removal scars on the dorsal face, all seemingly blade-like flakes, with two struck from the proximal end, both terminating in hinge fractures, and a third struck at a perpendicular angle, all three have relatively pronounced ripple marks. This last removal appears to have gone w…

A collection of two pieces of Bronze Age chert debtage (c. 2350- 800BC) Both pieces are tertiary flakes, as there is no cortex remaining and both show signs of multi-platform working. Flake A has been strongly repatinated by fire, to a creamy white colour , with a crackled appearance. The dorsal face retains evidence of three negative flake scars struck in apposing directions. While the ventral face, retains evidence of at least two if not possibly three striking platforms; due to the extent of re-patination it is impossible to indicate whether this flake has been hard or soft hamm…

A Bronze Age or possibly Neolithic chert horseshoe shaped scraper dating to the period c. 2350-800 BC. It has been struck off a secondary flake, as there is between 25-35% of the cortex remaining on the dorsal face and was semi-circular in shape with some damage to one side which has removed one end of the semi-circle. The ventral face has a single large bulb of percussion, with a large bulbar scar. The dorsal surface has three parallel negative flake scars from previous removals of blade like flakes. The curved distal edge has neat short semi-abrupt parallel retouch at the ends close…

A Bronze Age flint scraper dating to the period c. 2350-800 BC. It is semi-circular in shape, with a patch of cortex covering c60% of the dorsal surface with only the edges worked and retouched. The ventral face has a negative bulb scar where a piece has been struck off this on and closely spaced, conchoidal rippple marks, suggesting that the artefact has been hard hammer struck. The dorsal face, has evidence of acute to semi-abrupt short and long mixed sub- parallel retouch running along the surviving length of the curved distal edge to the proximimal end on one side, the corner of t…
