Chipped on the ventral side in antiquity, and covered by dense white patina suggesting a long period of weathering. Suggested date: possibly Bronze Age, 2350-800 BC.

Scraper. Plano-convex flake with rough reworking almost all of which is from one side only, producing a circular scraper with a small protruding point; the latter is possibly the result of accidental damage, as it seems too delicate to serve as a boring tool. Possible scraper. A sub-triangular flint chip with hard hammer retouch along one edge and (probably) on the striking platform. A bowl-shaped hollow at the edge, in the same location as a bulb on the other side of the flake, indicates sequential hard hammer strikes. The notching of the object is debateable, and lacks the evidence for pressure flaking around the curving notch, as was noted on an object of comparable use: NLM-174408. This piece also lacks the appearance of assured working which characterises most of the accompan…

Grey flint with cortex scraper. The finder kindly suggests this to be a Neolithic end scraper, citing Butler, C. (2012), Prehistoric Flintwork, page 127 fig. 51 no. 5, and also nos 4-12. This reporter, considering the mediocre quality of the material and its initial working, would prefer an Early Bronze Age date. A pair of narrow parallel flakes were removed from the dorsal side towards its base (as illustrated), possibly to trim an inconveniently sharp aris between flakes.
