Dark grey flint tranchet axehead. Sub-rectangular flake of ovate section with two broad parallel flakes struck from either side and with angled flakes trimmed from either side at one end to form a cutting edge. The other end is flat, forming a butt. Dense milky patina has developed over all struck surfaces, indicating the object has endured prolonged exposure after its deposition. Suggested date: Early Mesolithic, 10,000-7000 BC. Length: 62.9mm, Width: 31.1mm, Thickness: 22.0mm, Weight: 39.56gms.

A possibly incomplete and unfinished Mesolithic flint tranchet axe. The opaque creamy coloured flint has a small patch of cortex on one face and several large iron spots on the other face. One face has been heavily worked while the other has only a few large flakes removed. A projection on the base of the un-worked face suggests that the axe may have been hafted. The surviving length is 79.8mm, the width is 48.7mm, the thickness is 29.0mm and the weight is 123.71g.

Flint tranchet axehead. A thick oval flake with broad flakes removed from both sides by probably unidirectional hard hammer working; these included an angled blow removing a broad flake from one end, with localised evidence for light battering immediately adjacent. The resultant section is of an angular oval form. A dense buff patina suggests the object has endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment, while extensive orange staining might point either to its incorporation in gravel or to the underlying tint of the flint - which is uncertain. Grey-green flint with cortex probable tranchet axehead. A thick triangular flake with cortex lightly trimmed from the dorsal side, though some of its loss should be ascribed to adventitious edge-on impacts. The ventral side bears the scars of covering multi-directional angled scalar hard hammer working, with the broader end of the object sharpened by the removal of one large flake. Subsequent angled scalar retouch either tidied or sharpened this cutting edge. Suggested date: Early Mesolithic, 10,000-7000 BC. Length: 82.6mm, Width: 43.4mm, Thickness: 19.2mm, Weight: 49.64gms.

An oval biconvex flint object of oval section, with broad and narrow flakes trimmed from one [?the ventral] side by probably multangular angled retouch, and with covering retouch across the other [?dorsal]side comprising predominantly unidirectional angled retouch.
