A fragement of a Neolithic polished axe. The mixed cream opaque flint has been polished all over. The axe has been broken and split down its length. The surviving length is 72.4mm, the maximum width is 51.6mm, the surviving thickness is 24.9mm and the weight is 128.10g.

Grey flint, patinated overall to a pale grey tint, polished axehead fragment. A fragment comprising the polished sides and curved cutting edge of a finely polished flint axehead. The crescentic cutting edge remains sharp, and the aris between its faces continues along one straight side of the axe. The axehead is broken before the start of any narrowing towards the butt. One side remains in its finely finished condition; the other, and the end, are chipped and broken, the latter by a hinged fracture. Pale grey local flint of indifferent quality, as kindly identified by the finder; polished axe. A large oval section polished axehead with a curved cutting edge mostly lost to ancient [patinated, in two large flakes] and later impact damage, and tapering to a narrower butt which is similarly damaged, though with some indications of light battering in antiquity. Pale grey-buff flint with very marked patina suggesting a long period of exposure to a calcareous environment; possible polished flint axehead fragment. A small chunk which may preserve the crescentic cutting edge of a polished flint axe; if this is so, the other side of the blade has been pitted by frost fractures and/or other impact damage, and the butt and most of the body of the axe are lost.
