Grey brown flint with cortex borer. Oval flake with long parallel flakes removed from the dorsal side in the course of partial removal of cortex, with a bulb on the ventral side; with short scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect to form a piercing point at one end. Further short scalar retouch executed from the ventral aspect may also help define or redefine the point. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC. Length: 26.4mm, Width: 17.7mm, Thickness: 6.2mm, Weight: 2.45gms.

Pale grey flint with cortex and patches of milky white patina borer. A weathered flake with broad flakes removed from its dorsal side and a bulb and wavy surface on the ventral. The patina is removed by short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect along part of one edge, and the scalar trimming of a single triangular point. This illustrates the re-use of a weathered flake of uncertain age. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 31.2mm, Width: 32.8mm, Thickness: 5.6mm, Weight: 7.34gms.

Grey-buff flint with cortex possible borer. Flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal surface and a bulb on the ventral. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal side defines a low point, with an adjacent concavity on the dorsal side affording a convenient thumb rest. The lack of patina may suggest this object was incorporated into a sealed context shortly after its deposition. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Dark grey flint with dense milky patina, borer. Irregular flake with broad flakes struck from both sides, and with very short abrupt retouch executed from one side to define a point. The retouch interrupts patina accumulated over the previously struck surfaces, which may suggest the reuse of a fragment of conveniently [for handling in its reworked state] hollowed debitage which had endured prolonged exposure. Both episodes may be of Neolithic date. A larger spall represents more recent adventitious damage. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Length: 37.5mm, Width: 29.4mm, Thic…

Grey semi-translucent flint of good quality borer. Flake with a broad flake stuck from its dorsal surface and a bulb on the ventral. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows one indented edge, defining a small point - though it is uncertain whether this has been narrowed by subsequent damage. Grey flint with cortex strip, possible borer. Thick triangular flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulbar ventral surface. The angled scalar working of the dorsal side converges on a pointed end. A pale grey patina over all struck surfaces may suggest the object was exposed to a calcareous environment for a period after its deposition. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Length: 25.7mm, Width: 20.5mm, Thickness: 7.4mm, Weight: 3.13gms

Grey-buff flint, honey-coloured under transmitted light, borer. A sub-triangular flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulb at one corner of an otherwise flat ventral surface. Very short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a curving convex edge; the opposite edge appears to have received similar short abrupt retouch executed from the ventral aspect, defining a point where the two edges meet. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Length: 24.1mm, Width: 17.5mm, Thickness: 5.3mm, Weight: 2.19gms

Grey flint with cortex; possible borer. A triangular flake with long narrow parallel flakes trimmed from the dorsal side and with a near-flat ventral surface. A dense white patina has formed over all struck surfaces, indicating the object has endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. The patina is locally disrupted by subsequent adventitious impacts. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC. Length: 48.1mm, Width: 24.0mm, Thickness: 5.1mm, Weight: 6.23gms

White and brown iron-stained flint. Sub-triangular flint with ?retouch, finder considers this a possible burin or point. MF dissents: Iron stain may suggest this object to have been river-rolled, which could account for most damage observed. MF suggests. Length: 52.09mm, Width: 27.18mm, Thickness: 11.66mm.

Brown flint with pale buff patina. Irregular lump, with several points and possible retouch. DS regards this as possible burin; MF unconvinced, believing the orange colour to represent natural river-rolling, and apparent working as damage attending this episode. Length: 50.53mm, Width: 33.02mm, Thickness: 15.41mm. David Smith's ref: Site 5.
