Grey-green flint debitage. Flake with broad flakes removed from its dorsal side by hard hammer working and with a bulbar ventral surface. A pair of subsequently inflicted long adjacent scars on the dorsal side arose from edge-on impacts, and may, despite appearances, represent adventitious damage. Grey-green flint possible polished knife fragment. A flake with a curving cutting edge [top] with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a hollowed and hackled ventral surface. Multiple shallow concave fractures appear on both sides, and whether these were contemporary with or later than the use of the putative tool is uncertain; similar features are common amongst unworked or naturally battered flints from the vicinity. Grey flint, possibly collected from the East Coast; debitage. A small flake with broad flakes struck from its ?dorsal side by hard hammer working. The ?ventral surface bears narrow parallel flake removal scars within a hollowed area. A strip of cortex whose thin fine character may suggest the coastal origin of the flint appears along one edge. The finder kindly suggests that the grey tint may identify this as a Wolds-type flint, perhaps incorporated in glacial Drift, and one which has recently endured only scant exposure to a discolouring local environment. Grey flint with thin grey cortex, probably collected from the East Coast; scraper. A large thin flat sub-triangular nodule with one long edge trimmed, probably by hard hammer strike. Object type: HANDAXE
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: North East Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Suggested date: Middle to Upper Palaeolithic, 150,000-10,000 BC. Length: 90…
