Grey flint possible fabricator. A knapped flint implement with two broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a flat rippled ventral surface with a tiny striking platform at one end. Short abrupt retouch executed from the ventral aspect follows one long edge of a triangular-section object; other marks along the arises between faces are from fortuitous edge-on impacts. Grey flint with off-white patch near its tip, probable fabricator fragment. A thick pointed flake of plano-convex section with large flakes initially trimmed from its dorsal side and a flat ventral surface. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect is carried over most of the surface; this was perhaps interrupted by removal of a further flake from the butt end of the tool. Though this need not have interfered with its function, it does not bear wear suggesting it to be the result of a deliberate modification. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC

Grey flint with cortex spot, fabricator. A finger-shaped flake with covering multangular scalar hard hammer retouch across all surfaces, producing a ragged rhomboid or lentoid section. Patches of misty patina may suggest the object has subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment while orange spots may hint at rolling in gravel. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC.

Pale grey flint probable fabricator. A long narrow flake of plano-convex section, with long narrow parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side by unidirectional working, and with a small bulb at one end of an otherwise flat ventral surface. It is uncertain whether further retouch took place along the long edges, as many of the chips here appear to arise from adventitious edge-on impacts; if it did, it was probably carried out by several long angled scalar drafts. A dense white patina suggests the object was subsequently exposed to a calcareous environment, while orange spots may hint …

Flint possible fabricator, as kindly suggested by the finder. A triangular-section rod, constricted at one end where battering appears either side of a blunt point. The finger-like shape and flat [presumed] ventral surface may commend a Mesolithic date; however, there is scant convincing evidence of working apart from the form itself. A dense creamy patina may suggest the object has endured long exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: possibly Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000BC.

Grey flint fabricator. A long narrow finger-shaped flint with long flakes removed from its dorsal side, one leaving a rippled scar, and with a bulb at one end of a slightly concave ventral surface. Misty white patina developed, suggesting a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. The patina is removed by invasive angled scalar retouch of the bulb from the ventral aspect to form a small working edge; another chip near the midpoint of the ventral surface is recent. Flint possible fabricator, as kindly suggested by the finder. An elongated oval triangular-section flint with one pointed end and one obliquely broken. Edge-on chips have probably occurred adventitiously. The entire surface bears dense creamy patina suggesting prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment, together with iron stains suggesting its subsequent incorporation into gravels. This degree of patination is unusual among the many flints reported from the vicinity. Suggested date: Mesolithic, 10,000-4000 BC.

Dark grey flint fabricator. A narrow leaf-shaped lentoid section flake bearing covering angled retouch overall. The finder kindly suggests an early Neolithic date; this artefact class is known from Mesolithic and later contexts up to the Early Bronze Age. Pale cloudy grey flint fabricator, as identified by finder. Elongated biconvex finger-shaped tool shaped by hard hammer working. The object tapers towards a thinner curved end, with casually executed flake removal at the mid point affording a grip for the thumb; the other end is flat, at a recent break. The upper and lower convex surfaces are lightly smoothed, probably by wear during use, though other flaking at the edges represents post-depositional damage. Blue-grey flint
Possible Fabricator or 'slug knife'. Irregularly shaped plano-convex tool. The object is apparently made from a thick and elongated flake with traces of the removal of long thin blades before it was detached from core, and bears extensive hard hammer reworking on both sides, producing an irregularly tapered tool. There is also limited pressure-flaked retouch on the striking platform of the original flake. Suggested date: Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, 2500-1500 BC.
