Grey flint core. A core with opposed striking platforms indicating working from its ends, with the removal of long narrow parallel flakes and bladelets. A broad flat face may result from breakage of the core. A very light misty patina may suggest the object was exposed to weathering for a short period after its deposition. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.

Pale grey flint with cortex core fragment. Long core with long parallel bladelets removed by unidirectional working; a larger flat side may show where the core was broken while being used. A speckling of white patina may suggest the object was exposed for a period after its deposition. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.

Dark grey flint with cortex core. A small core which appears to have seen two distinct episodes of working, though evidence for the first is almost removed by the second, and is represented only by patinated struck surfaces. The more recent use comprised multangular working removing broad and narrow parallel flakes. These surfaces show no patination, suggesting the object was incorporated into a sealed deposit very shortly after its deposition. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC.

Grey flint with cortex spot, core. Pyramidal core with long narrow parallel flakes removed by two episodes of working, of which at least the first was unidirectional. Patches of misty patina on struck surfaces suggest the object has endured a period of weathering after its deposition; a greater degree of patination may indicate the area of initial use. Grey flint with cortex, core. Cylindrical core with parallel flakes neatly struck from both ends, using a striking platform at right angles to its sides at one end, and a slanting platform at the other. A light patch of misty patina on one struck surface only may suggest the core was reused, though not long after its primary working. To judge from the lack of other patination, it was probably incorporated into a sealed context shortly after its final use. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC.

Grey flint with cortex, possibly collected on the East Coast, core. Nodule fragment with working from two or more directions, removing broad and parallel flakes. Part of the struck surface bears blueish misty patina, but this is removed by further drafts. Grey flint with cortex core. Small nodule fragment with parallel flakes removed by two episodes of unidirectional working. The first was followed by the development of thick creamy patina, suggesting a long period of exposure after deposition. Subsequent working has interrupted this surface and has not acquired a comparable degree of patination, suggesting the core was incorporated into a sealed deposit shortly after its secondary use. The Early Neolithic period could accommodate both episodes. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC.

Blue grey flint with cortex and with varying degrees of misty white patina on its various facets; core. Lump with jaggedly fractured faces produced by multi-directional hard hammer working which, at least on the tidier faces, has removed broad parallel flakes. The varied extent of patina may suggest the re-use of an old core picked up from the land surface, and its exposure to weathering for a shorter period after that re-use. Mottled flint with cortex core fragment. Pyramidal core fragment with long parallel flakes removed by unidirectional working. The striking platform was originally defined by the striking of a broad flake at right angles to the subsequent working. The core may have been abandoned when it split. The lack of patina save at the edge of cortex may suggest this object was promptly incorporated into a sealed context. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.
Height: 25.2mm, Width: 30.5mm, Thickness: 19.2mm, Weight: 10.84gms.
