Pale brown toffee-coloured flint with pale cream markings, knife, as kindly identified by the finder. Oval flake with two broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulbar ventral surface. Grey flint knife, as kindly identified by the finder. A thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a bulbar ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch follows a curving edge; a chip was probably damage incurred in antiquity as orange staining from contact with gravels passes over the broken surface. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows the curving convex outer edge of the concavo-convex form. Dense creamy patina suggests the object has subsequently endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment; the tint of flint is revealed by a small chip at the narrow end. Pale cream-buff flint possible knife fragment. Sub-triangular flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and smooth across most of the ventral surface, save where interrupted by one long flake-removal scar. Short abrupt retouch or edge-on damage follows the longest edge. The straight upper edge [as illustrated] has the smooth edge of a positive hinge fracture on one side. Overall creamy patina and rust spotting may suggest the object was subsequently incorporated into gravel. Now smooth to the touch, probably due to water-rolling. Brown flint knife fragment. A thin flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a flat ventral surface. One straight edge is formed by a positive hinge fracture. A milky patina has formed over the dorsal side and, to a lesser degree, on the ventral surface, suggesting the two sides have endured a varying degree of exposure to a calcareous environment. Smoky Translucent Flint of high quality Knife. Plano-convex flake with a bulb of percussion on its ventral aspect, and four long flake removal scars on its dorsal aspect. The cutting edge has been retouched with pressure flaking on the ventral aspect. The apt selection of material and techniques so deftly employed indicate an Early Neolithic date. Translucent orange flint with whitish patinated surface, probable flint knife fragment. Thin curved flake with three flake removal scars on its dorsal aspect, two made from one end and one from the other. A further long flake removal scar along one edge indicates the removal of another flake before this object was detached from the core by a hard hammer blow which left a clear bulb of percussion at the end which had previously been struck once. The object was possibly hafted at this point. The tip of the blade was lost, probably as a recent break which affords a view of the light exte…

Translucent flint of high quality, blade. Knapped blade of angular plano-convex section. Hard hammer working comprises three long flake removal scars on the dorsal aspect, and a bulb of percussion on its ventral aspect where this flake was detached. The striking platform for the latter operation has then been retouched with pressure flaking adjacent to a pointed end; the other end of the object is lost. The selection of a high quality flint and its assured working suggest an early Neolithic date. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 3500-2900 BC. Length: 30.8mm, Width: 11.8mm, Thickn…

Semi-translucent pale grey flint knife fragment. Knapped flint flake of lentoid section with a bulb of percussion on its ventral aspect and previously executed flake and blade removal scars on its dorsal aspect; the lower half of the blade is lost at a probably recent break. The sharp edges may suggest this object was recently disturbed from a sealed context. The selection of material and assured working should probably indicate a Neolithic date. Suggested date: Neolithic, 3500-2100 BC. Length: 31mm, Width: 28.8mm, Thickness: 6.3mm, Weight: 5.88gms.
