Honey tinted flint plano-convex knife fragment. Tip of a small plano-convex knife. Long narrow parallel flakes have been struck from the dorsal side while there is a small bulb at the end of a slightly concave ventral surface. Slight misty patina developed, suggesting a limited period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows the converging long edges, removing this light patina. Broken, probably recently, at its wider end. Flint with cortex spot probable scraper. An irregular flake with broad and narrow flakes trimmed from its dorsal side and with a bulb on its undulating ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect forms a hollow on one long edge - the smaller of two on the same side; both hollows might have been used to trim shafts. A dense creamy patina suggests the object has endured long exposure to a calcareous environment after its deposition. Burnt flint scraper fragment. A fragment with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer and with a bulbar ventral surface. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect appears to have followed a curved edge. Heavy battering has also left multiply layered spalls on the opposite end. The putative working surface is broken at either end, and fine crazing is carried throughout the object, which is now a pale grey tint overall. This discarded tool has obviously fetched up in an intense fire. Suggested date: Early Bronze age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 37.8mm, Wid…

Grey flint with cortex strip, scraper. A thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by multangular hard hammer strike. Angled scalar retouch then executed from the dorsal aspect followed a curved edge. Patches of misty patina subsequently developed over this side of the object, and on part of its ventral surface. This patina is absent from most of the rest of the ventral surface, which may originally have been bulbar, but which has been extensively reworked with angled hard hammer drafts. Pale grey flint scraper. Thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer, and with a bulbar ventral surface with a prominent striking platform. Toffee coloured flint with cortex debitage. A thick flake with a tiny striking platform and a large bulb of percussion at one end of its ventral surface. A possible run of short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect occurs on one part of one side, where the cortex has been trimmed. The finder kindly suggests this may be of Mesolithic or even Palaeolithic date, but the tint of the flint does not appear altered by the passage of the significant period this would require so this reporter would favour a more recent date. A thick chunk with large broad parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer, and with its opposite side [not here characterised as ventral as cortex remains on both the sides] stripped by multangular hard hammer working similarly removing large parallel flakes. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a long curving edge. Suggested date: Early Bronze age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 45.1mm, Width: 31.7mm, Thickness: 14.9mm, Weight: 20.14gms

Grey flint possible arrowhead fragment, as kindly identified by the finder. A thin flake fragment with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a rippled ventral surface. Angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows two converging edges. A straight edge opposite the longest of these is lost to a recent break. The surface bears a pale grey patina suggesting the object has endured a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. If indeed an arrowhead, the triangular form suspected would ally this to Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age artefacts. Suggested date…

Grey-brown flint plano-convex knife. A small thick straight-sided flake with covering angled scalar retouch and a flat to very slightly concave ventral surface; the scars are mostly parallel, which might be considered a trait of Mesolithic work as might the concave underside, though the object type here is of the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age. Suggested date: possibly Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 27.0mm, Width: 14.7mm, Thickness: 5.9mm, Weight: 2.94gms

Grey flint, appearing brown under transmitted light; scraper. A thumbnail scraper with a hollowed dorsal surface and corresponding bulbar ventral surface, providing a convenient thumb rest. Invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a curved edge opposite the bulb. A crack running diagonally across the object may represent recent damage. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 24.2mm, Width: 34mm, Thickness: 9.1mm, Weight: 6.51gms

Grey flint borer. A thick chunk with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer working. The bulbar ventral surface bears covering angled scalar retouch, executed in hefty drafts which have left a rippled surface to each flake removal scar. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 36.0mm, Width: 29.3, Thickness: 11.5mm, Weight: 11.39gms

Blue-grey flint possible scraper. A thick flake with a broad flake struck from its dorsal side by hard hammer, and with a prominent bulb on its ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows a curved edge. Misty patina has developed over the struck surfaces, suggesting a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. This is disrupted along part of the edge, possibly by battering or reuse of a discarded tool. The finder kindly suggests an identification as a tortoise scraper. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC. Length: 36.4mm, Width: 38.…
