A complete Neolithic flaked axe head, c.4000-2300 BC.
This axehead is made from cream-coloured flint or chert with some iron staining. There are no patches of cortex remaining. The shape is asymmetrical, with one long edge slightly more bulbous than the other, which is straight. In profile, the axe is reasonably similar and balanced. It is very similar in shape to DOR-3F1ECB.
The sides appear unfinished and have some post-depositional damage. It is possible that this axehead was to be ground and polished, as it is missing the finer flakes that refine these edges.
