It is sub-oval in shape, with a markedly flattened distal end, and it is D-shaped in cross section. There is abrupt sub-parallel retouch present along the cutting edges. Object type: BARBED AND TANGED ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Devon
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A fragment comprising approximately 50% of a barbed and tanged flint arrowhead dating to the Early Bronze Age, c. 2700-1600 BC. The point, the tang and one of the barbs are missing. One barb, the cutting edge of the point to near the apex and part of the distal end survive. It is formed of a tertiary flake of mid grey flint, with a distinctive circular patch of white patina in the centre of the arrowhead. Most barbed and tanged are made with the bulb of percussion orientated towards the point of the finished arrowhead, this is the thickest part where the area immediately …

Object type: ASSEMBLAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Devon
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An assemblage of seven flint fragments of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date, c. 3300-1600 BC. Five fragments are secondary flakes and possible formed of the same initial core. They are formed of a dark grey, almost black flint, with large areas of buff cortex surviving. There are multiple areas of buff and white patinisation on all five fragents. One is possibly suggestive of blade debitage, while another may be a rough scraper. The remaining three fragments are all debitage. One fragment is of a pale olive grey flint, and is blade like with a broken and damaged proximal e…

Object type: BLADE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Devon
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete Neolithic flint blade, dating to c. 3500-2500 BC. The blade is made on a dark grey, almost black flint. It is sub-rectangular in shape, with a trapezoidal section. There is a small area of deep reddish brown cortex remaining at the proximal end. Some low angled retouch is present on the right hand side, while the left appears damaged. A further sign of reworking is a possible secondary striking platform, possibly to correct an initial knapping error. Measurements: 55mm length, 23mm width, 5mm thickness, weight 11g.

There is a small patch of pale grey patinisation on the distal end, which is a secondary flake retaining a small patch fo creamy cortex at the proximal end. Steep parallell retouch is present on the right hand side of the blade. It is 46.1mm in length, 16.2mm width, 9.7mm thickness, weight 9.4g. The debitage is la…

County: Devon
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete leaf shaped arrowhead of Neolithic date, dating to c. 4000-2500 BC. The arrowhead is formed of a pale grey secondary flake, which has small areas of cream cortex surviving on the dorsal face, in addition to splotches of creamy patinisation present on both the dorsal and ventral faces. It is triangular in cross section, and lozenge shaped in plan, although the lower part of the lozenge is truncated in favour of a slight suggestion of a tang. There is scalar semi-invasive retouch present, particularly on the left hand side towards the proximal end. Measurements…
